Coffee of the Month: Ethiopian Sidamo, Organic, Fair-Trade

Every month, Nabolom Bakery will be bringing you a rotating selection of coffee blends, originating from around the world, roasted right over the border of Berkeley in Emeryville by our coffee providers, McLaughlin Coffee.

This month we bring you a Light French Roast Coffee from the Sidamo region of Ethiopia. It is naturally-processed and provides a flavor unique only to this specific region of the world. A perfect choice for those who prefer a winey, fruity finish.

Co-op Info:

Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU), the largest Fair Trade coffee producer in Ethiopia, was founded in 1999 when 35 smaller cooperatives came together with the goal of exporting their coffee directly to the specialty market.

Among their co-operative principles, the members hold workshops on composting coffee by-products, shade-tree utilization and share costs on equipment purchases & repairs.  In addition, the co-operative members increased the food security of their region by interplanting coffee plants with citrus and banana trees.

Flavor Profile:

Lots of fruitiness with a floral aroma, lively acidity and a winey finish.
